ABOUT KIRA KRÜMM
Kira Krümm, Principal Interior Designer and Founder of Koastal Design Group, has built an exceptional design firm with an emphasis on innovation, integrity, and client satisfaction. Her contemporaries regard her as a visionary and a virtuoso, while her clients praise her creative passion and consistent professionalism. Yet as always, it is her unforgettable interior designs that form the foundation of her business, revealing her artistic background and international influences by beautifully balancing the elegant and ethereal.
Her devotion to design began as a young art student in Virginia, where she attended the Governor’s Magnet School for the Arts receiving numerous notable awards. She later earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts with an interior design major from Virginia Commonwealth University, where she presided as the Senator for the School of the Arts and acted as President of the Fine Arts Council. Kira received a special scholarship in 1992 to study interior design, furniture design and architectural photography as a World Study Scholar at the American College in London.
Kira quickly established a reputation for excellence as the owner of a prosperous interior design company in Virginia Beach, where for she designed upscale residential and commercial projects, including several of the area’s most fashionable and successful restaurants. She relocated to Naples, FL, in 2000 launching Kira Krümm Interior Design, a full-service design studio offering luxury fine furnishings and home décor for coastal lifestyles. A decade later, she selected the Miromar Design Center for her design studio and in 2016 she introduced her new company name, Koastal Design Group – Kira Krümm & Company, opening her current studio location in Downtown Naples by Fall of 2017.
Owning her firm for more than 30 years, Kira’s extensive list of accomplishments has secured her an uncompromising reputation among Florida’s most influential interior designers. She has been the recipient of more than 50 industry honors for design excellence. Among her array of awards includes numerous Collier Building Industry Association’s (CBIA) coveted Sand Dollar Awards including Perfect Score. Her work has been celebrated in multiple design publications around the globe, as well as many of Southwest Florida’s top lifestyle publications. Her designs have been featured on HGTV, graced the cover of magazine publications, and featured in multiple national hardbound publications.
Kira’s national notoriety is rivaled only by her global acclaim. After residing in London and Florence and traveling extensively throughout Asia, Europe, North and South America, and the Caribbean, the expansion into the overseas market attracted Kira, complementing her lifelong love of travel and international design. As a reflection, her work has been featured in international publications and China’s leading design publications. As the contributing editor of the hardbound book Modern Interior Design, The American Collection, she had the honorable role of selecting lead designers to showcase their unique and varied styles of modern American design which was published in two languages. Kira also had the privilege of showcasing her work as the guest International Designer in the 100% Design Shanghai Exhibition, where she was invited to design the internationally renowned 2012 “Italian Apartment”.
Honing on her innate enterprising spirit, Kira’s experiences abroad inspired multiple art-related international business ventures involving her signature product line, the Kira Krümm Koastal Kollection. Her international travels enhanced her creative perspective enabling her to develop a distinct brand aesthetic. Inspired by the natural beauty of places where land meets water, her signature Koastal aesthetic embodies a relaxed, sophisticated style that became synonymous with Naples’s luxury interior design.
Kira developed her brand internationally, with special focus on her luxury bedding line that garnered interest worldwide. In March 2013, Kira launched an exclusive bedding collection for the Chinese luxury market which debuted at the 31st Annual China International Furniture Fair in Guangzhou. The same year, Kira and her husband launched their fine art gallery, Studio International, in which they represented renowned fine artists from the Americas in Shanghai and Beijing’s top art markets and exclusive galleries.
In addition to her affiliation with many national and international organizations, Kira has supported several regional fine arts and community organizations and has been a member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), an affiliate member of the Collier Building Industry Association (CBIA), the Interior Design Society (IDS). She is proud to be certified by the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ), which recognizes individuals who have met industry standards for the practice of interior design. Kira is a GREEN Accredited Professional in Interior Design and a member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council, an international organization that promotes and encourages sustainable practices in the home furnishings industry. Kira continues her dedication to the arts through contributions to various local organizations that work to create meaningful impact in our community and beyond.
